IGGY, the University of Warwick’s online social network for gifted 13 to 18 year olds, has worked with Shireland Collegiate Academy since the summer of 2012, prior to IGGY’s launch in October 2012. As one of the country’s leading schools in their use of technology to further teaching and learning, Shireland has been a natural choice to pilot the online service and the additional face to face services available through IGGY. As an IGGY partner school for the West Midlands, Shireland is now a key partner in guiding local teachers using IGGY to provide for their more able students. IGGY recognises the key role teaching schools will play in the training and professional development of teachers, and the raising of standards through peer support.

I have personally worked on projects with Shireland for a number of years and its track record in the use of technology alongside its entrepreneurial spirit meant I had no hesitation in approaching Sir Mark Grundy when we were looking for partners for our initiative.”
